Chicago police promote pedestrian safety
“Readying for War” was a multi-piece Web project I created after following the 1st Infantry Division as it trained for an Iraq deployment at Fort Irwin, Calif. The project won first place in the Kansas City Press Club’s Heart of America award competition in 2009. Second place was awarded to the Kansas City Star’s investigation of the deaths of 20 firefighters in 1988.

Old German Baptist Young Folks
While different congregations of the Old German Baptist Brethren meet to discuss the future of the church, down the road the youth socialize, pray and gather for fellowship. Early Sunday morning the youth joined the rest of the church for a prayer service. I captured the audio portion; photographer John Henry took the pictures
Travis and Stacy Cecil welcomed their eighth child, a girl named Freedom, on April 27. Travis, a specialist in the Army reserve, was recalled from Iraq on emergency leave. Watch
